CSD3 Full Maintenance 30th January 2025¶

Important

The period of full maintenance scheduled for 30th January 2025 will commence 07:30 and last all day.
CSD3, Dawn, RDS and RCS will be unavailable during the maintenance period.
Arcus, SRCP and RFS will experience a brief loss of external access only, but should be considered at risk.

Current Status¶

Capacity on CSD3 and Dawn will begin to reduce to produce empty clusters at 07:30 on 30th January.
RCS tape library operations will be suspended.

07:30 maintenance commences:
- Job scheduling will be suspended.
- All CSD3 login and visualization nodes will reboot and login access will be blocked throughout the maintenance period.
- /rds-d8 lustre upgrade will commence.
- Access via login nodes or storage gateways to RDS and RCS will not be possible during maintenance.
08:00-11:00 electrical sequencing work and transformer maintenance will be performed by Estates.
- At 08:00 network reconfiguration will cause an approximately 5 minute loss of external connectivity to all services.
11:00-18:00 Firmware, Lustre and Slurm updates will be performed.
18:00-19:00 (approximately) normal services will be restored in order.
